“I believe in living from love and not fear, intention and not reaction. That we all have the opportunity to step into our power, stop being victims of circumstance, and that we can design incredible lives that create a positive impact of change in the world. Each of us has a beautiful opportunity to bring our unique gifts to the world in a meaningful way and live lives we truly love.”

For as long as I can remember I have longed for a life filled with love, a connection to tribe, travel, freedom and career success. I have always been a dreamer, and as a child was often lost in fantasy. Never one to sit idle, I set to making my dreams a reality. I aimed for the perfect body, a great love, a passport with stamps from all over the globe, a beautiful apartment and a lucrative career. Tick, tick, tick, tick and tick!!
My extrinstic motivators were satisfied, I got all the symbols for success and happiness, as I had viewed them. I also got, an eating disorder, workaholism, anxiety, a broken engagement, a profound sense of loneliness and a deep sense that something was wrong. It was, in essence, crystal clear that the typical external symbols of success, did not bring deliver happiness.
My life was a rollercoaster, at times I was high in the air but at other times I was low and literally upside-down.
On the upside, there was career success. Thankfully, early on in my career I understood the need to have my values and career align and my altruistic drive found a home when I launched my career in recruitment and I nobly set out to help people find jobs. Although I enjoyed this at first, it wasn’t long before I discovered that my stary-eyed optimism and desire to do good was a little misplaced in the recruitment industry, so I crossed over into HR. Again this was not quite the happy home I had anticipated. So up the ladder I climbed in hope for more meaning and to add greater value, unfortunately neither were to be found at the top of the corporate ladder. My last role in corporate was a sexy and shiny one, Head of People & Culture in a Global Social Media business.
Outside the trendy office though my life was falling apart, I was caught in a hideous cycle of addiction; relapse, rehab, rinse and repeat. With every relapse my treasured relationship with my fiance took a nose-dive, as did my self-esteem and any connection I had with the universe. As a “high-functioning” alcoholic, I solidered on and re-launched my career in the Start-up world. Here I found what I had so desired, a way to bring my gifts to the world in a meaningful way. Outside of the bureaucracy of corporate, and the politics of the executive I found the exciting world of Start-ups and co-working. I had meaning and purpose in my life and I got sober.
In recovery I found myself on a much elevated spiritual path. I had tinkered with Buddhist philosophy and meditation for years but in recovery my spiritual journey now became paramount. Before long my wildest dreams started coming true, a pipe dream of living between Byron Bay and Bali become a reality, a gorgeous villa in Canggu, Bali became my home, I found my tribe, a group of gorgeous individuals with whom I started to enjoy of life of lightness, joy, spontaneity and love. Gorgeous men started falling from the sky (I often joked that finding a great man on Tinder was like shooting fish in a barrel, and seriously ladies, for anyone that is familiar with app dating, you’ll know that if you can find a great man on Tinder things are going really, really well for you 😉 ). I said hello to flow, abundance and alignment and not only did I have greater levels of compassion kindness and gratitude in my life I felt an inner contentment, joy and serenity.
I have trust in the universe, I feel great in my skin, I love the life I lead and I continue to learn and grow every day. Often times the growth comes through bouncing up against things (?!) and I am constantly learning to get out of my own way, but its unquestionably a fun ride. I like to think that I’m contributing to the world in a meaningful way and I certainly feel like my life has value, purpose and meaning.
