Welcome to the first episode in the From Here On Addiction Recovery series of A Meaningful Life by Design.
I’m super excited to launch this series, the From Here On Addiction Recovery series of A Meaningful Life by Design. This podcast is an absolute must listen if you’d like to understand exactly how you can recover at home from addiction, no inpatient rehab, onsite meetings or scary therapy sessions. If you’re looking for an action-based forward-focused approach to addiction recovery listen on in!! In today’s podcast I introduce Sophie Aghdami my business partner and Co-founder of our Executive Recovery Coaching business. Today we discuss what addiction really is, how prevalent it is and we talk about recovery coaching as a solution to getting into recovery from addiction, finding freedom from addiction and building a life you don’t want to escape from.
Let me share a little more in terms of the bio of our lovely guest Sophie.
Having grown up in Switzerland and the UK, Sophie now lives in Australia and works with clients worldwide. Because her own personal journey in addiction was one of the biggest challenges of her life, Sophie now uses her lived experience to help others on the path she knows so well herself. She is an Executive Recovery Coach and at the heart of Sophie’s recovery coaching practice is a firm belief in an individual’s capacity for change and personal transformation. She also truly believes in the value of a coach, because it’s one of the main reasons she is thriving in life today, free from past damaging patterns and behaviours.
Sophie uses her personal transformative experiences to help others encounter long term, rewarding personal growth and life satisfaction ‘on the other side’ of addiction. It is possible to attain, and maintain, a life of meaning, purpose and joy in recovery.
Sophie’s coaching method includes evidence-based psychological and behaviour change methods, and neuroscience. Sophie thrives on helping others find their experience of ‘flow’ – a state of being in which you are fully immersed and at one with what you are doing. The mental, physical, and spiritual are all in sync working in perfect accord toward reaching the vision.
Sophie is accredited with the International Coaches’ Register: the worldwide quality mark for active and excellently trained professional coaches.
Sophie is also deeply passionate about protecting the environment, and dedicates time to a marine conservation charity based in Australia and India.
It was so wonderful to have Sophie join me on the show today and to have the opportunity to speak together about the meaningful and powerful work of recovery coaching. This is the first episode of the series and an intro to recovery coaching. The topics of addiction and recovery are so huge and complex there’s a lot to discuss. In future episodes we’ll be discussing, dopamine – the reward centre, the craving mind, addiction and shame, recovery methods (what does and doesn’t work), the rehab industry, relapse and much much more. We are excited to kick off too with 1-0-1 of recovery coaching.
